Project Background

DEWR recognises Electrical Power line Trades (i.e. Electricity Supply Industry Transmission/Distribution and Rail qualifications) as suffering from state-wide skills shortages in NSW. DEWR states that the shortages are evident in maintenance and new supply work in both the power generation and distribution sectors.

Project Aims/Outcomes

Develop resources for Certificate IV in ESI-Substation.

Short Term Objectives

  • Encourage uptake and delivery of Certificate IV in ESI- Substation (UET40206) by developing resources that reflect the needs of industry
  • Assist industry to improve the delivery, cost effectiveness and relevance of training
  • Promote use of industry wide best practice training model

Long Term Objectives

  • Address skills shortages in the Electricity Supply Industry, Transmission Distribution and Rail particularly in rural and regional NSW
  • Provide skilled workers to maintain essential infrastructure
  • Ensure the reliability of energy supply to industry and households in NSW
